(Maybe Google isn’t as almighty as we thought)
There are a few companies we look up to as the holy grail of success. Google is one of those. I heard an eye-opening quote yesterday by Nilay Patel on the Decoder by The Verge podcast. He said (I loosely quote), “Google has only ever created one and a half products — Search and an email product [Gmail] they copied from Hotmail. The rest they acquired — YouTube, advertising management software, etc.” Wo. True. But that kinda makes a person look at Google a little differently. Is their “innovative” reputation deserving?
